Nate Tran (11): The Story Behind a Picture

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what is the story behind a photograph? Here to share his own personal story is the photographer himself, Nate Tran. Nate Tran is a junior at Garden Grove High School who began his hobby as a freelance photographer towards the beginning of junior year. Instagram has given him a platform to share his photos and captivate the eyes of many followers to have their photos taken. To him, photography is more than just bringing a camera and pressing one button to capture pictures. What started as a side job became something that Nate dedicated 110% of his time and soul into. He expresses, “I discovered my passion when I took some sample pictures for my friends. Seeing their eyes admire the pictures and their kind feedback gave me motivation to continue.”

Currently, Nate is balancing a hectic schedule between photography, wrestling, and school however, in Nate’s point of view, “ when you do things that you love they become easy to handle.” Nate’s best friend is his Canon 60d with a 50mm f/1.8, but he is in the process of saving up for a Sigma 35mm f/1.4. One person that has been an inspiration to his photography career is Andrew T. Kearns. Nate adds, “His work ethic is off the charts and he creates amazing work, showing me that with hard work develops good results.”

Nate: “I am always formulating ideas in my mind. When I shoot, I try to recreate those ideas and styles, and avoid the really cheesy and generic type of pictures. It usually takes me 4 hours to edit a whole set of pictures and to get them uploaded and delivered to the person. It’s a habit of mine to get them done right away and not keep the person waiting. I’ve always thought of photography as a stress reliever because it allows me to be in touch with my surroundings and I have a lot of fun doing it. I met a lot of new people because of photography and I’m grateful for my new friends and the adventures we’ve been on. I see myself pursuing this hobby in the future because I’ve had so many great memories from the few months I’ve started and it can only get better from here.”
