On October 1st, 2017, while attending the annual Route 91 Harvest Music festival, the Cotter family found themselves in the midst of one of the most devastating mass
shootings in America. When shots started roaring, the initial thought on everyone’s mind turned to run. As bullets were sprayed over 22,000 concertgoers, 58 were killed and 500 were wounded. Among the wounded was GGHS Alumni Doug
Cotter (88’); A bullet had entered and exited through his forearm, continued through the rib area, and landed in his intestine, sending him straight to the ICU. During the chaos, the Cotter family was separated, leaving Cherise Cotter, Doug Cotter, their son Adam Cotter
and his girlfriend completely in a state of panic.
Thankfully, Doug is now in stable condition and well on his way to recovery. A GoFundMe page has been set up in order to help the Cotter family pay for his medical
expenses, with proceeds just short of the goal. The funds generously donated will go towards his surgery and physical therapy. Doug Cotter is the epitome of an Argonaut, exemplifying strength and tenacity. We wish him a full and speedy recovery!
