Boys’ Waterpolo Celebrate Their End of Season

To finally wrap up this season and recognize the hard work and dedication they portrayed these past months, the Water polo Boys gathered at their banquet and shared their last time together.

The night of their celebration started off with a serving of tacos, beans and chips, and rice. Friends and families socialized, thrilled to find themselves on the wall of photos, which featured various photos of players in action.

With a filled stomach and the excitement of this celebration arising, the night was just beginning. To recognize each student athlete, all were awarded with a certificate that acknowledged their achievements this season. Also, personally engraved plaques were given out to those who went above and beyond with not only their performances during game time, but those who represented integrity within themselves.

For our Frosh team, Coach Anthony recognized Mason Mendoza as being the “Most Offensive Player” and Alan Mai as the “MVP”. Being the captain of the Frosh Team, Alan Mai (10) recognizes “the improvement the team has built on throughout the season” and with Daniel as co-captain, they “couldn’t be more proud to lead a team willing to put in their blood, sweat, and tears into every game.”

Up next, Coach Powell recognized Luigi Porchile for “Most Improved” on the JV team, Anthony Diaz being the “Most Defensive Player” and Huy Vu as the “MVP”. Captain of the JV team, Loc Vu (10), shares that his first year of polo was one to remember. He continues, “We had our dreams of League Champions, and as we climbed that mountain we started slow but picked it up by the end of the season. Never reaching the top, I’m still proud of my boys, seeing how far we’ve made it.”

Lastly, Coach Dax and Coach Henninger recognized Joseph Luong as “MVP” of the season, “MVP” throughout the Garden Grove League, as well as placing 1st Team at CIF. Great work, Joseph! Andrew Pham (12), expresses his fourth and final Water polo banquet as a great wrap up of his four years. He says, “Through passion many great things can be achieved and the example was right in front of me. From here, I plan to take this passion and continue to expand it into all areas of my life to get the same or better results.” Thenight ended off with a heartfelt speech from Coach Dax, 49-IMG_2907saying his goodbyes to his seniors, as well as encouraging those to “represent integrity within yourself to the fullest,” and to dream big “to achieve great things in life.”

Congratulations to our Water polo Boys for their commitment towards this sport and the outstanding accomplishments they’ve achieved this year!
