It’s that time again when you hear tennis balls being hit echoing through the school. Our boys tennis team was in a difficult situation during preseason after being limited to only 4 courts for 30 people due to construction. Ultimately having one less court for practices put the tennis team at a disadvantage against other schools. Despite these setbacks, that didn’t stop our Argos from working hard!
Preseason starts every year against Edison. With both teams away, the boys couldn’t bring home a win with Varsity scoring a close game of (8-10) and JV losing (1-17). Both Varsity and JV suffered a loss of (3-15) against Foothill. Next, Varsity played Valencia ending (3-15) also. Due to construction on the two new courts that weren’t finished yet, JV didn’t have sufficient courts to play on, having to forfeit the game against Valencia overall. The following day, the Argos played a tough opponent, Sunny Hills. Varsity got (4-14) and JV (2-16). The next week, the boys played Villa Park where Varsity pulled through and defeated them (12-6) but JV lost (6-12). This marked Varsity’s first win during their tough preseason. Thomas Chu (12) adds, “It wasn’t a challenge physically but mentally to overcome” In the most recent game against El Dorado, both Varsity and JV came out with a win scoring (10-8) as both of their scores. Arvin Nguyen (10) comments, “It was a fun and exciting match against El Dorado. Together we pulled through as a team and were victorious.”
Good luck Argos for the rest of preseason!
